Thin engineered floor like this one is not meant to be refinished. Very high risk to sand through the hardwood layer and expose plywood, then the floor will need to be replaced. We mostly sanded everything with a floor edger to be more delicate. With lots of deep damages, we didn't expect everything to come out and it didn't. But the end result exceeded the client's expectations. It looks more natural, with a character, and we did it without messy demolition.

Before
Worst part of the floor is near the island, where most traffic and spills happens

After
clean, fresh, ready for 1 more chapter

Before
old finish started to fail due to age, traffic and sun exposure

After

Before
Sanding pre-finished floor is not easy, but sanding pre-finished floor that doesn't have much of a wear layer is the whole different level

During
Sanded nice and flat, without burning through veneer

Result
I will take natural wood over lvp flooring any day!

Result
Sand, Seal, Finsih
